‘Hopefully playing tomorrow’ – These Sunderland fans debate first-teamer return after u23 omission

Aiden McGeady is not involved with the Sunderland u23 side this afternoon as they take on West Bromwich Albion, with several Black Cats thinking it’s a sign he’s going to return to the first team soon.

Sunderland take on Burton Albion later this week in terms of first-team matters with Phil Parkinson being removed from his job on Sunday evening.

The Black Cats will be looking to get a win against the Brewers, then, and could well recall McGeady – at least that’s what fans are thinking – with him spending time with the u23 side after Parkinson rather put him out in the cold during his time in charge.

Indeed, the winger was at Charlton on loan at the end of last season but that never really worked and now perhaps we’ll see him reignite his Sunderland career.
