Middlesbrough have certainly played the waiting game whilst appointing Aitor Karanka’s permanent successor, with Steve Gibson yet to replace the club’s former manager, who left the Riverside Stadium in March.

Steve Agnew took temporary charge of Boro for the end of the 2016/17 campaign, as they slipped back into the Sky Bet Championship. However, Gibson appears to have identified Karanka’s successor, with Garry Monk set to be appointed.

Monk handed in his resignation at Leeds United just last month, and is set for a swift return to management with Boro, with reports suggesting his appointment in imminent.

The 38-year old previously managed Swansea City in the Premier League, before linking up with Leeds ahead of the 2016/17 campaign, where he led the Whites to seventh in the Championship table.

With Monk on the brink of being appointed at the Riverside Stadium, here is how Boro’s fans are reacting…
