Scott Carson put the loss to Fulham in context in his message on Twitter after the match.

Derby lost 2-0 in the second leg of their play-off semi-finals against Fulham to lose 2-1 on aggregate and miss out on the chance to play at Wembley in the final. They put in a valiant effort, but the quality of Fulham's attacking play eventually showed, which was always likely since they finished 13 points above them in the regular season.

There was a moment of hope, though, because it was 0-0 at half-time, so the Rams were 75% of the way there. However, Ryan Sessegnon broke the deadlock early in the second half and the whole complexion of the game changed.

Carson was key in keeping the score respectable with multiple saves as the Cottagers kept him working with 20 shots and 10 on target.

The 32-year-old has been at the club since 2015 with this being his second play-off campaign with Derby, and he didn't miss a league game this season with 20 clean sheets.

This is the post-match message he uploaded on Twitter which acknowledged the tough nature of the loss, but how it pales in comparison to the news that former player Jlloyd Samuel had died in a car crash:
