Stoke City have moved swiftly to sell Xherdan Shaqiri this summer, with the winger linking up with Liverpool on a long-term contract.

Confirmation came last night that Shaqiri was linking up with Liverpool ahead of the 2018/19 campaign, with the 26-year-old ending a three-year association with the Potters.

During his time at Stoke, Shaqiri made 84 Premier League appearances, returning 15 goals, including eight last season.

Shaqiri has now taken to his personal Twitter account to deliver a message to Championship-bound Stoke, thanking them for a wonderful three years, despite the disappointment of last season.

As expected, Shaqiri’s post received plenty of reaction from Liverpool and Stoke supporters.

Here is how the latter were reacting…

There’s no getting away from the fact that last season was disappointing for Stoke, but despite that, Shaqiri isn’t departing on bad terms.

It appears that Stoke’s supporters are more than understanding about the winger’s decision to move on.
