Nottingham Forest hopes of a play-off finish look to be dead and buried now, after a disappointing 2-1 home defeat to Blackburn Rovers at the weekend.

The Reds knew that they would have to bounce back from a bitterly disappointing week, where defeats in Yorkshire to Rotherham United and Sheffield Wednesday in the space of four days put their top six hopes in huge doubt.

Plenty of Forest fans fancied their chances of defeating a Blackburn side who were languishing in midtable and really had nothing to play for, but goals from Joe Rothwell and Danny Graham propelled them into a 2-0 lead at the City Ground.

Ryan Yates pulled one back for the hosts, but succumbed to their third defeat in seven days, ultimately piling the pressure on Martin O'Neill.

It was a below-par display from every player in a Garibaldi shirt - they had 22 shots but could only manage one on target, which really does tell the story of the match. The game was won and lost in midfield, where the likes of Pele were unable to stamp their authority on the game alongside Ryan Yates.
