Sheffield Wednesday have finally confirmed the appointment of Steve Bruce as the club's new manager.

The 58-year-old has been out of work since the start of October, where he was sacked by Aston Villa after winning just three out of their first eleven Championship games this season.

But he will now be looking to turn the Owls' fortunes around when he begins his post on the 1st of February - the Yorkshire club sit 16th in the Sky Bet Championship table, a staggering eleven points off the play-off places after a terrible season thus far.

Perhaps the most pleasing aspect of this appointment from a Wednesday perspective, is that Bruce possesses what previous manager managers Luhukay and Carlos Carvalhal didn't have - experience of the English leagues and being successful at Championship level before.

However, this didn't stop the latter from wishing Bruce the best of luck in his new role at Hillsborough.
