Swansea City striker Oli McBurnie scored twice last night but Leeds United clawed back a 2-2 draw.
Leeds twice came from behind to cancel out McBurnie’s strikes; firstly via Kemar Roofe’s fourth goal of the season and then courtesy of a late Pablo Hernandez finish against his former club.
McBurnie had an impressive game, although he was admittedly up against two central defenders who are more suited to the full-back role in Gaetano Berardi and Luke Ayling.
It was an extra special match for McBurnie, who was born and grew up in Leeds and even played for the club’s academy while he was a young boy.
The Whites even came close to signing the Scotland international in the summer, although he was Paul Heckingbottom’s choice before he was sacked.
Leeds fans had the chance to watch their former academy man and local lad in action against them and he scored a brace – one with the outside of his foot and the other with a powerful header into the top corner.
Here are how Leeds fans reacted to his display.
My main take from last night is that Oli McBurnie is nowhere near handsome enough to play for us. #lufc

I remember watching Leeds vs Barnsley last year with all eyes on McBurnie, and not seeing the hype at all. Looked slow, languid, playing within himself. Different animal tonight. All-round player was monstrous and took both goals so well.
Looks a Premier League talent. #lufc

McBurnie is class as well, we should’ve listened to Heckingbottom and signed him too! Real nice interview with Leeds fan McBurnie and ex-Swansea hero Hernandez post-match. Drop the #lufc fans a line if you’re coming down, we don’t bite (too often).

Wish #lufc had gone after McBurnie to compliment Roofe and Bamford

@oli_mcburnie was outstanding tonight. Not even angry that he scored two goals against us tonight. He deserved it. Leeds fan & hope to see him in a Leeds shirt one day. Swansea looked good. They will be up there at the end of the season #lufc #scfc
