Middlesbrough's frustrating season continued last night as they lost out to Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in the EFL Cup.

The men from the Riverside Stadium have not had a good campaign so far this year and, though they were expected to get into the top six at the very least, they look as though they are short on confidence right now. Garry Monk, then, is the man tasked with finding a solution for the club and it remains to be seen whether or not he can find it.

One possible lifeline appeared to emerge last night, though, as young Marcus Tavernier showed all the fearlessness you need to turn around a slump with his fine goal offering the Teessiders a real foothold in the tie.

Of course, they couldn't hold on but the hope around Tavernier will only increase and it'll be interesting to see if he features at the weekend. Certainly when he took to Twitter a fair few were suggesting they want to see more of him and so, with that in mind, here is the best of what has been said:
