The future of Frank Lampard has been the hot topic of conversation in recent weeks, with the Derby boss being linked with a move to former club, Chelsea.

The Evening Standard have recently reported that Lampard was one of Chelsea’s top candidates to succeed Maurizio Sarri who is edging closer to a move to Italian giants, Juventus.

But the Telegraph’s John Percy has recently revealed that Derby are now in discussions with Lampard over a new deal with the Rams.

Lampard guided Derby to a top six finish in his first season with the club, and beat Leeds in their play-off semi-final to book their spot at Wembley.

But they were narrowly beaten by Aston Villa in the play-off final, as they missed out on a timely return to the Premier League in Lampard’s first season in charge.

It’s safe to say that Derby supporters were delighted with this latest update on his future.
