Sheffield Wednesday U23s coach Lee Bullen has been linked with taking charge at Scottish Championship side Ayr United, which has drawn an interesting reaction from many Owls fans.

Ayr are searching for a new manager after the departure of Jim Duffy last month and, as per The Sheffield Star, Bullen is on their list of potential candidates.

Should he be appointed, taking charge at Ayr would be the Scotsman's first in full time senior management.

Bullen has been Wednesday's caretaker boss on three occasions, as well as serving as an assistant for six of the club's former managers, while he was also Steven Pressley's assistant at Falkirk.

The 50-year-old has been the head of the Owls U23s since August 2020 and should he depart it would be the end of a relationship with the club that has lasted nearly two decades – first as a player and then as a coach.

Bullen remains a pretty popular figure at Hillsborough and though many supporters would be sad to see him leave, plenty would also be happy to see him get his chance.

That stance is reflected by the response to his potential exit on Twitter, with supporters voicing their thoughts on the situation.
