Whilst Thomas Christiansen and his Leeds United squad battle it out in the Sky Bet Championship, looking to secure a Premier League return, plenty of the club’s fringe players are out on-loan in the lower leagues, where they continue to thrive.

One of those is Marcus Antonsson, who is spending the season on-loan in League One with Blackburn Rovers, who he is helping to mount a serious promotion challenge with.

Antonsson has seven goals across all competitions this season for Rovers, with the Swedish striker scoring four in his last three appearances, including one in the 4-2 victory over Oxford United last night.

The 26-year-old endured a difficult start to life in English football under Garry Monk last season, scoring just three goals and making 21 appearances across all competitions, with Chris Wood firmly in favour at Elland Road.

Antonsson also struggled to impress Christiansen over pre-season, but with the striker scoring plenty of goals for Blackburn in the third-tier, he is coming to the attention of Leeds’ supporters, who have spent time on social media discussing the striker.
