The Championship returns on Friday night and it begins with the standout fixture as Sheffield United host Sheffield Wednesday in the Steel City derby.

The Blades secured a memorable 4-2 victory over their bitter rivals at Hillsborough in October, which was the first game between the sides in five years.

And, they will resume that rivalry at Bramall Lane on Friday in a game that has a lot more riding on it than just local pride.

The hosts know they will move into the play-off places with a win, meanwhile it is Jos Luhukay’s first game in charge of Wednesday in what will be a real baptism of fire.

Even though they are 13 points away from the top six, Chairman Dejphon Chansiri remains hopeful they can mount a miraculous late promotion push, but you get the feeling a win on Friday is a must.

After the comprehensive defeat on their own patch the Owls will be desperate for revenge.

But, who will come out on top?

We take a look…

George Dagless

I'm going to sit on the fence here.

Neither side is in brilliant form at the moment and perhaps the only reason I'm saying draw is the new manager factor Wednesday have.

They'll be looking to impress in their biggest game of all this season and so I think the points will be shared.

Alfie Burns

I’m expecting Sheffield Wednesday to avenge their defeat earlier in the season.

The Owls were embarrassed at Hillsborough, but now, under new management, I’m expecting them to make a statement at Bramall Lane this Friday.

Of course, the game will have bite, but I think Wednesday will be extremely fired up for their first match under Luhukay and will take all three points.

Sam Preston

Home advantage will prove crucial.

The temptation before such a big game is to plump for a draw and both teams are on a bad run. However, United's fans will be desperate for their side to do the double over their bitter rivals and that will just make the difference against a Wednesday side low on confidence and still getting used to a new manager.

1-0 United.
