A poor start to the season saw QPR sitting 17th and this ultimately cost Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink his job.

His replacement was Ian Holloway: a fans' favourite and former player and manager who returned to the club after 10 years away.

As of yet, Holloway hasn't had the desired effect, and after his opening three games in charge, Rangers are in a worse position than when Hasselbaink left.

However, once Holloway has had a January window to bring his own players in and had enough time to impose his style of play on the team, they could be very successful.

Sitting eight points off the play-offs, a top six finish certainly isn't out of sight for QPR just yet, but no doubt the main aim for the former Blackpool boss, will be to secure their Championship status before pushing for promotion.

There is no doubt that some of the players Holloway has at his disposal aren't playing as well as they can at the minute.

Here, I will look at two players who Holloway need to get more out of...

Conor Washington

There was a huge expectation for Washington when he arrived at Loftus Road with many believing that he would be the prolific goalscorer they needed to replace Charlie Austin and fire them back to the top flight.

So far, it hasn't worked out for Washington, with the Northern Ireland international finding first team opportunities hard to come by under Hasselbaink.

He has started every game so far under Holloway, scoring once.

If Holloway can get him scoring goals like he was at Peterborough, then he could well fire QPR up the league.

Massimo Luongo

Since Luongo arrived at Loftus Road over a year ago, neither Chris Ramsay nor Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink have played a style of football or formation that fits into how Luongo likes to play.

The formation Holloway is currently playing is somewhat unheard of in England, a 4-2-2-2, where Luongo can play as an attacking midfielder but roaming out to the wings.

This suits what he likes to do, he can play between defence and midfield, drift out wide to pick the ball up and come inside onto his stronger right foot, where he can have a bigger influence on the game.

QPR fans - do you agree? Do you need to see more from Washington and Luongo? Is Holloway the man to help them realise their potential? Let us know in the comments below...
