Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers are closing in on the signing of Brighton winger Kazenga Lua Lua, reports West London Sport.
The 26-year-old moved to the AMEX Stadium all the way back in 2011 after three decent loan spells at the club prior to that, and has since gone on to make 181 appearances for the Seagulls, bagging 22 goals and laying on 25 assists in the process.
And the winger’s four goals and four assists in 11 League One matches back in 2011 played a significant part in helping the South Coast side earn promotion to the second tier, yet just three appearances in the first half of last season saw Lua Lua shipped out on loan to Ian Holloway’s QPR back in January.
And it appears that he’ll be linking up with Rangers once again as recent reports suggest that the West London outfit are closing in on a deal to bring the 26-year-old back to Loftus Road on loan once again.
The former Newcastle winger scored once and laid on two assists in just 11 games for the Hoops last term before injury thwarted his progress, and manager Holloway will be hoping that he can re-discover his fine attacking form to help his team climb the Championship table once again.
And it has been reported that QPR are hopeful of getting a deal done by 12pm this afternoon so that Lua Lua is available for selection for their clash away at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
The Verdict: Brighton’s promotion to the Premier League plunged Kazenga Lua Lua’s future at the club into even greater doubt – if he couldn’t get into their Championship side, how will he get into their top-flight one?
And QPR look set to be the beneficiaries and bring back a player who showed glimpses of his best form for them last season, and manager Ian Holloway will be hoping that the 26-year-old can stay injury-free during his time at Loftus Road to really get the best out of him.
The Hoops have struggled in the transfer window to date, but having beaten Reading last weekend, progressed into the second round of the Carabao Cup, and closing in on Lua Lua, things are certainly looking up around the West London club.
