Many QPR fans would have hoped that their fortunes would turn under the guidance of Ian Holloway, but it’s not quite been that straightforward for The R’s.

QPR have won just one game with Holloway at the helm and Rotherham inflicted another defeat on Rangers at the weekend, beating them 1-0, in what was poor performance.

Rangers are currently in a position where they should be looking up towards the top half, but instead they will have to be cautious of what a bad run of results may bring, with them being very close to the relegation zone.

That said, the former Blackpool boss will be itching for the January window to come around to try and bolster his squad ahead of what could be a nervy end to the season for Rangers if their results don’t improve in weeks to come.

Perhaps things will turn around when Holloway puts his own personal stamp on this squad.

Here, I will look at 2 players who Holloway can’t miss out on in January…

Matty Taylor

Taylor

The Bristol Rovers hitman has been on fire over the past 18 months, topping the League Two goalscoring charts last season and he has already fired in 13 goals in League One so far, with many more likely to come.

Taylor stretches defences and knows where the net is once he gets a sniff.

QPR have been somewhat toothless in front of goal under Holloway, so that will definitely be an area he looks to improve in January, and Taylor could be the man he turns to.

Kevin Long

Long has been sitting in the stands at Burnley of late, largely due to the form of Burnley’s current centre half pairing.

Despite interest in the summer, Long stayed at Turf Moor but after four months of watching from afar, he could look to move.

The Irish centre back was highly impressive during his loan spell at Barnsley in League One last season, so a step up to the Championship should be a formality for Long.

QPR’s defensive frailties have been on show in recent weeks, but Long could shore them up at the back.
