Hartlepool United have confirmed on the official website that their young left-back Darren Holden has signed a new deal with the club.

South Africa-born Holden was regular in the second half of the season and made 28 appearances after the injury of Neil Austin. Now he’s been rewarded with a new contract.

“It felt very good to sign the contract and I can’t wait to get started again in July now. When the manager told me he was going to offer me a new deal I was overwhelmed.

“I’m still learning every week and I just want to keep on improving and keep a place in the team,” Holden told the club’s website.

Holden is the product of the Pools academy and he is the third player to sign a new deal so far, after Jordan Richards and Sam Collins.
