Birmingham City will be looking to build upon their largely positive start to the campaign on Wednesday night as they prepare to play host to Bournemouth at St Andrew’s.
The Blues have started pretty well under Lee Bowyer, picking up respective 1-0 victories over both Sheffield United and Colchester in the league and cup, whilst also drawing 0-0 on Saturday with Stoke City.
Those three results underline that Birmingham are moving in the right direction with regards to being defensively solid, however many will be wondering where the goals are going to come from.
Two defenders in Maxime Colin and Marcel Oakley are the only ones to hit the back of the net so far for the Blues and Bowyer will undoubtedly be hoping that his attacking players can hit form against the in form Cherries.

Wolves loanee Matija Sarkic is expected to keep his place between the sticks for the Blues, with the shot stopper having impressed since arriving at St Andrew’s.
Bowyer may also choose to revert to a back three in defence, which is likely to be made up of Marc Roberts, Harlee Dean and Kristian Pedersen.
That therefore means that Colin will be pushed up higher on the right hand side as part of a five man midfield alongside the likes of Ryan Woods, Ivan Sunjic, Gary Gardner and Jeremie Bela.
These five will then look to provide support at every opportunity to the front two, which is expected to be made up once again by Lukas Jutkiewicz and Scott Hogan.
It appears likely that Bournemouth will look to dominate possession of the ball, so therefore Birmingham may well set up to counter attack against their opponents if they are unable to gain a real foothold themselves during the opening stages.
