Sunderland crashed out of the FA Cup in the first round of the competition, after a surprise 1-0 defeat to League Two side Mansfield Town.

The Black Cats would have been favourites to progress to the next stage, especially against a Mansfield Town side that have been struggling for a positive run of results in the fourth-tier of English football.

But that wasn’t the case as George Lapsile’s goal proved to be the difference between the two teams at the Stadium of Light on Saturday afternoon.

Sunderland boss Phil Parkinson made a number of changes to his side from the team that beat Ipswich Town in their last league match, but they were unable to make a notable impact.

This defeat only added to some of the pressure already on the Black Cats boss from some sections of the Stadium of Light faithful.

Plenty of Sunderland supporters were quick to take to social media to voice their frustrations at Parkinson after this disappointing display against the League Two side.
