‘His performances have been poor’ – These Sheffield Wednesday supporters debate player’s inclusion in cup squad

Sheffield Wednesday supporters have been debating on social media the form and performances of striker Jordan Rhodes, and whether he should be included in Garry Monk’s line-up for the Owls clash at home to Premier League side Everton in the Carabao Cup third round on Tuesday night.

Monk has suggested (via The Star) that Rhodes could be included in his squad for the first time since he took charge of the club on Tuesday night, as the Owls look to continue their promising start under the former Birmingham City manager and produce a cup shock under the lights at Hillsborough.

Wednesday have so far beaten Huddersfield Town and rescued a late 1-1 draw at home Fulham in Monk’s first two matches, which saw the new Sheffield Wednesday manager select the likes of Steven Fletcher, Sam Winnall and Atdhe Nuhiu ahead of Rhodes in his first couple of match day squads.

That decision has been vindicated by the fact that both Fletcher and Winnall were on target in the Owls success at Huddersfield and Nuhiu came off the bench to grab a vital equaliser against Fulham in Monk’s first home game in charge of the club on Saturday.

That suggests that Rhodes will be under pressure to prove to his new boss that he is still able to provide the potential to make an impact if and when called upon, but so far this season and in fact during his spell at Sheffield Wednesday he is yet to stamp his authority on the team, and if selected against Everton he must begin to show signs of improvement.

Here, we take a look at how Sheffield Wednesday supporters have reated to the news that he could be incuded in the squad for Tuesday’s clash against Everton on social media…
