Peterborough United announced the signing of Nottingham Forest striker Jason Cummings on a season-long loan deal on Friday.

Cummings struggled for game time at the City Ground last season after arriving for around £2million last summer from Hibernian and was shipped out on loan to Rangers in January.

The Scot scored just two league goals all season across both clubs and will be hoping to recapture the form that made him such hot property in the first place at Peterborough.

Meanwhile, his parent club have brought in two new strikers this summer in the form of Lewis Grabban and Hillal Soudani pushing Cummings even further down the pecking order.

But does this loan spell indicate the end of the 22-year-old's time at Forest? Will he still have a future with Aitor Karanka's rapidly evolving squad?

We discuss.

If he scores plenty of goals in League One, why not?

Cummings has potential but he was not quite the striker Forest needed last year.

Rather than head back to Scotland, this seems a more sensible career move as he is trying to make a name for himself in England.

After signing for the Posh on loan, Jason Cummings’ Nottingham Forest days could be coming to an end.

While it might be goodbye for the Tricky Trees, Peterborough may have just found themselves a new front man.

While only on loan, Cummings could be exactly what they need this season, and if he does well, possible a future permanent signing.

Gary Hutchinson

If he bangs in 50 goals this season, yes. It all depends on his form doesn't it?

I can't imagine he'll impress sufficiently to earn himself a place there in 12 months time, especially not if they're promoted, but you never know.

I do know one thing; he's a good striker and should thrive at Posh.

Jay Taylor

His Forest career is well and truly over.

The way they are going in terms of their transfer strategy he won’t have a place at the City ground.

There is no doubt a player like Cummings and the age that he is, will tear up League One.

The sharks will circle and a bigger club will take him off Forest’s hands and I think they would rather the cash than Cummings.

Louie Chandler

He would have to have an amazing season to be involved in Forest's immediate future, similar to the level that Jack Marriott had last season.

Two goals since arriving at Forest leaves him with a lot of work to do and I just cannot see him fitting in with the Forest of today.
