Aston Villa manager Dean Smith will be relishing the arrival of the January transfer window, as he finally gets to the chance to stamp his mark on his Villa squad.

Whilst he will obviously be looking to bring players into the club, he will also be looking at his current squad and deciding if they have a future at Villa Park.

One player who will be in the spotlight, is 26-year-old striker Scott Hogan, who has had a frustrating time since arriving from Brentford two years ago.

So does Hogan have a future at Villa, do you think he will still be at the club this time next year?

We discuss.....

Jay Taylor

“In a word – no.

"You’d have thought with the arrival of Dean Smith, Scott Hogan would have been relishing life under him, but selection in the Villa team has been underwhelming, to say the least for the striker.

"Tammy Abraham has been in sensational form and the way Smith plays there is room for one striker.

"Hogan could well push for a move away in January – but he should consider when Abraham goes back to Chelsea and the start of next season – will he play more?

"I don’t think so – I feel Smith will sign another forward to replace Abraham and Hogan will be left wanting now.”

Jacob Potter

"I can see a future for him at the club.

"Although he isn’t getting much game time this season, he’ll be crucial next season when Tammy Abraham returns to Chelsea.

"Hogan has already shown that he can score goals in the Championship after impressing with Brentford earlier in his career.

"But there will be fears that if Villa win promotion, he could be deemed surplus to requirements."

Sam Rourke

"His days are seriously numbered.

"It simply has not worked out for the former Brentford man, and I don't even think having Dean Smith at the helm is going to change his fortunes.

"A move away in the summer seems like a distinct possibility in my eyes."
