Sheffield Wednesday players are scheduled to be off until Friday meaning the club may look to wrap up their manager hunt before that point, according to a report from The Telegraph

Garry Monk was sacked on Monday evening after just over a year in charge of the Yorkshire club.

The manager hunt is underway with the likes of Sol Campbell, Paul Cook, Eddie Howe, and Tony Pulis linked with the job.

A report from the Telegraph has hinted at a potential timeline for the decision, revealing players are not set to return to training until Friday, which indicates the trigger may be pulled before that point.

Due to the international break, Wednesday's next game is not until the 21st of November – a trip to Deepdale to face Preston North End.

Whoever is appointed will take charge of an Owls side that are second-bottom of the Championship, having started the season with a 12-point deduction.

That deduction was halved to six points last week but the new manager's first target will no doubt be to ensure Wednesday avoid the drop.

The Verdict

This hint looks like good news for Wednesday fans, who will surely want a new boss to be brought in as soon as possible.

That said, the most important thing right now is that club owner Dejphon Chansiri brings in the right replacement for Monk.

Chansiri has made the decision at the right time as the international break has given him time to make his next move, he just needs to ensure he makes the right one.

There are some fantastic options out there and the Hillsborough outfit is likely an appetising prospect. It's going to be fascinating to see who the Owls end up with.
