Cardiff City have secured their progression to the FA Cup fourth round following their eventful 4-3 victory over League Two side Carlisle United on Wednesday evening.

The Bluebirds will now face Reading in the next round following their success over the Brunton Park outfit with defender Aden Flint netting a brace, while attacking players Danny Ward and Josh Murphy were also on target for Neil Harris' side.

Flint was named in the starting line-up against the Blues after being dropped for the clash with Swansea on the weekend, with this seeing the centre-back not feature in a Cardiff league game for the first time all season.

However, the 30-year-old made a telling contribution on his return to the side in this FA Cup third-round replay, with the former Middlesbrough showcasing his goalscoring threat by netting twice for the South Wales outfit.

Plenty of Cardiff fans took to Twitter in response to Flint's goalscoring exploits, with many of them praising him for his attacking quality, while others even suggested the possibility of playing him further up the pitch in future matches.
