Amongst the various concerns that the global pandemic of coronavirus has brought, one in a footballing sense sees the likes of Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion getting worried about just whether they are going to get the chance to earn promotion.

With the season on hiatus and some non-league football now on the road to getting void, fans of clubs gunning for titles are rightly concerned that their sides are going to end up getting a raw deal.

Indeed, rival fans with nothing to play for are making merry on social media in winding others up but, this remark from Miguel Delaney in an exchange with a supporter on Twitter may well put a sock in the naysayers' mouths for good:

This naturally, should spark hope for the Whites and Albion that they are going to get their chance at promotion this season, no matter what.

The Verdict

This season needs to be ended as soon as it is safe to do so, no matter what.

Those pushing for a void would no doubt be saying different if they supported a club actually set to achieve something this season, and it seems silly to contemplate otherwise.

The non-league decision was baffling enough for some decent teams, extending the ruling to the highest levels would be a farce.
