Over the years, there have been plenty of players who have come and gone from Hibernian.

During that time, there have inevitably been some occasions where Hibs have had to splash the cash to bring certain individuals to Easter Road.

But just what has happened to some of Hibernian's most expensive signings, in the time since they made their move to the Edinburgh club?

Here, we've taken a look at just what Hibernian's ten most expensive signings of all time - according to Transfermarkt - are up to now.

We start this list with James Collins, who reportedly cost Hibs £209,000 when he joined from Swindon in the summer 0f 2013.

Collins spent just one season at Easter Road before leaving for Shrewsbury, later playing for Northampton and Crawley before joining his current club Luton in 2017, helping them climb from League Two to the Championship with some prolific returns in front of goal.

Nisbet only joined Hibernian from Dunfermline Athletic last summer, reportedly costing Hibs around £252,000.

The striker was nearly on the move again in January when he was heavily linked with Championship club Birmingham City, but ultimately remained with Hibs at Easter Road, and has so far scored 14 goals in 37 appearances for the club.

Another striker on this list who is still at Hibernian, Doidge made the move to Easter Road from League Two side Forest Green Rovers in the summer of 2019 for a reported £252,000.

Since then, the 28-year-old has scored 26 goals in 76 appearances in all competitions for the club, where he has just over a year remaining on his current contract.

Hibernaian reportedly paid Stockport £338,000 for the services of McIntosh in February 2000, but injuries would restrict the defender to just a handful of appearances for the club.

McIntosh returned to England on loan with Rotherham in August 2001, a move he would make permanent not long later, before going on to represent the likes of Huddersfield, Grimsby and Mansfield, eventually ending his career in 2009 without returning to Scotland.

Nicol joined Hibernian from Raith Rovers for a reported £360,000 in 2002, but made just 19 league appearances before leaving for Peterhead in 2005, having already spent time on in Norway with Stromsgodset.

The midfielder then went on to spend much of the rest of his playing career in Norway, where he was last year appointed as player developer at top-flight side Mjondalen.

Millen joined Hibs from Kilmarnock for a reported £405,000 in 1995, and spent the next two seasons with the club.

He later went on to play for several other clubs in Scotland, even representing Queens Park in the fourth-tier at the age of 45, and is now assistant manager at another of his former clubs, Morton, having been appointed to the role in March 2021.

Stokes would cost Hibernian a reported £518,ooo when he first joined from Sunderland in 2009, and after one prolific season at Easter Road, the striker moved to Celtic in the summer of 2010.

The Irishman would have two more spells with Hibs during his career, also playing in countries such as Turkey, Cyprus and Iran, and was last seen leaving Livingston after just a few weeks and no appearances last August, due to his dislike for training on the club's artificial pitches.

Goram joined Hibernian from Oldham for a reported £585,000 in 1987, and spent around four years at the club before joining Rangers, where he won five Scottish titles between 1998.

The goalkeeper then went on to play for several other clubs, including a brief loan spell at Manchester United, ultimately retiring in 2004, and going on to work for a number of Scottish sides, such as Airdrie, Clyde and Dunfermline, in a coaching capacity.

Having previously played for the club between 1987 and 1993, Hibernian reportedly paid Celtic £630,000 to re-sign McGinlay in 1994.

The midfielder just short of 200 appearances in all competitions for the club during his second spell at Easter Road, eventually leaving in 2000 when he joined Ayr United, where he would spend the rest of his career before retiring in 2005.

Hibernian reportedly shelled out £1.04million to bring McGinn to the club from St Mirren in the summer of 2015, with the midfielder emerging as a key player for the club over the next three years.

Eventually, McGinn would leave Hibs in the summer of 2018 to join Aston Villa, and having played a key role for the Midlands club in their promotion to the Premier League during his debut season at Villa Park, the Scot has now gone on to make over 100 appearances in all competitions for Villa.
