Leeds United have parted company with Paul Heckingbottom this morning, after just 16 fixtures at the helm.

Heckingbottom was appointed in February, taking over from Thomas Christiansen, with the hope he could guide Leeds back into play-off contention after a tricky start to 2018.

However, the ex-Barnsley boss managed just four victories in 16 fixtures, as Leeds stumbled to 13th.

Leeds have moved to their official website this afternoon to confirm that Heckingbottom has now departed Elland Road, with Angus Kinnear stating that Leeds are hopeful of announcing a swift replacement.

Reports emerged last night that Marcelo Bielsa was a target for the Whites, with even the suggestion that negotiations are underway with the 62-year-old.

There has, as expected, been plenty of reaction to Heckingbottom’s exit this afternoon, with the bulk of Leeds’ supporters happy to see the back of the 40-year-old.
