Garry Monk will be looking to reshape his Middlesbrough squad ahead of their return to the Sky Bet Championship, with the aim of bouncing back from last season’s disappointment and returning to the top-flight.
There will be arrivals and departures from the Riverside Stadium, and some of Boro’s high-profile players are likely to be on the radar of some top-flight clubs, not least Ben Gibson.
Gibson has recently broken into the England senior squad after a fine season with Boro, and Stoke City have reportedly made a £12m bid to sign the central defender.
Stoke’s bid for Gibson is not likely to meet Boro’s valuation of the 24-year old, who featured in all of the club’s Premier League fixtures last season and made 41 appearances across all competitions.
As news came out of Stoke’s reported bid for Gibson, here is how Boro fans reacted…
So #stoke make a £12m bid for Ben Gibson in an age where a keeper goes for £30m
Have a word stoke… he's worth £50 you muppets #boro

£12m ? Your having a laugh double it… I hope Ben only goes to a top six side. He deserves that.
