Stoke City manager Nathan Jones will be relishing the summer transfer window as he looks to stamp his own mark on his squad, and build a side capable of mounting a serious top-six challenge in the Championship next season.

One player who Jones seems interested in, is former Everton skipper Phil Jagielka who is leaving Goodison Park after 12 years at the Toffees, having made 380 appearances for the club, as reported in the Daily Mail.

The Potters face competition from though from newly promoted Sheffield United who the defender made 254 appearances between 2000 and 2007.

So would Jagielka be a good signing for Stoke?

We discuss........

Kealan Hughes

“He’s the last player they need.

“Stoke have had their fair share of high earning, ageing players who haven’t been up to a consistent standard whilst at the club.

“They’ve just sent back one of those players in Ashley Williams, much to fans’ relief, so to replace him with Jagielka would be a backwards step.”

Gary Hutchinson

“No, not at all.

“He’s been a great player over the years, but it’s not the right sort of player.

“One season, maybe two and he’s gone. He’s at the tail end of his career and players like that cost them last season.

“Why have they moved on from Matt Clarke? Why on earth have they changed from a progressive stance to a regressive one?

“Baffling.”

George Brooks

"This would be a great signing for Stoke.

"Although he didn't play as much football as he would have liked for Everton last season, Jagielka is still an extremely experienced player.

"He's more than good enough for the Championship and Stoke should do everything they can do try to sign him."
