Aston Villa manager Dean Smith will be nervously waiting for news on what is happening with his loan striker Tammy Abraham, as both the player and his parent club Chelsea decide on where he will ply his trade for the second half of the season.

Abraham has indicated he wants to return to Chelsea in January to allow him to secure an alternative home for the second half of the season, while there is always an option that Chelsea may recall the player for inclusion in their first team squad, following the inconsistent form of striker Alvaro Morata.

So is Aston Villa's success this season dependent on whether Abraham stays?

We discuss.....

Louie Chandler

I think it probably is, he's so, so crucial to them.

Abraham is an outstanding Championship striker, capable of popping up with a goal or two even when Villa are not playing well.

The likes of Kodjia or Hogan could possibly fill that void but nowhere near as well.

Gary Hutchinson

No, there isn’t a single team in the division who will get promoted on the strength of one player.

He’s important, but the chances that are being created would be good fodder for any good striker.

Villa’s success depends on sorting out the defence first and foremost.

George Dagless

No.

He's an important player but Villa will be able to get someone else in if he does go.

I like Abraham as a forward but there are players out there that can score goals so it won't be the end of the line.
