‘He’s showed more than enough’ – Sunderland starlet tipped to play big role under Lee Johnson

Jack Diamond could play a big role for Sunderland moving forward, according to Stephen Elliott.
The 20-year-old looks set for a bright future in the game after showing his quality for the Black Cats.
Diamond spent part of last season on loan with Harrogate Town and has come back the Stadium Of Light looking like a new player this time around.
Opportunities in League One have been limited for the winger however a series of encouraging displays in both the FA Cup and the Papa Johns Trophy has hinted that he could play a big role for the club.
Sunderland have struggled to possess that ruthless edge in attacking areas and according to former player Elliott, he is someone who has shown that he is more than capable of proving himself under Lee Johnson.
A better performance tonight from #safc. J Diamond showed more than enough to suggest that his directness & pace could be a big help to the team going forward. I thought he was a breath of fresh air & offered something that hasn’t been seen all season. Some good crosses too.

The Verdict
This is the perfect opportunity for Jack Diamond to prove his worth.
Lee Johnson’s arrival means that every player has the opportunity to wipe the slate clean and make a fresh start under the former Bristol City boss.
Diamond is someone who fits into that category and he’ll be hoping that he can really establish himself in the first team over the course of the season.
