A number of Derby County supporters have been urging the Rams to make Sam Allardyce the Rams next manager to succeed Phillip Cocu as the club prepares for a crucial period.

The Rams have got off to a nightmare start to the campaign with Cocu having only managed to guide the club to one win from their opening 11 league matches, which saw them enter the international break bottom of the table and two points adrift of safety.

That was enough to see Derby part company with Cocu over the international break, with the Rams having been linked with a potential move to appoint Rafa Benitez which has since been ruled out. Amongst other names linked with the job so far there have been the likes of Eddie Howe, Roberto Di Matteo, Brian McDermott and Nigel Adkins.

Wayne Rooney is heading up the coaching team in the interim period and he has been linked to being a contender to take over on a permanent basis. The Rams, though, are not expected to name a successor to Cocu until the club’s proposed takeover is completed.

Another name that some Derby fans have been touting for the job is former England manager Allardyce.
