Neil Harris offered stats to back up his decision to start Tom Elliott in Millwall’s morale-sapping defeat with fellow strugglers Bolton Wanderers at the weekend.

The Lions opted for a 4-4-2 this past weekend instead of the recent 4-5-1 formation that has been used.

The 28-year-old is not the flavour of the month with the Den faithful after a string of poor, ineffective performances and few feel he warrants a place in the team.

The striker has three goals this term from 16 starts and 12 substitute appearances, notching one assist, too.

And has not impressed the Lions’ supporters sufficiently since his move to south east London at the start of last season.

He played the full 90 minutes at the weekend and was mostly ineffective throughout the afternoon as the visitors lost 2-0 and are outside the bottom three by one point after the reverse.

Harris offered some post-match comment to try to vindicate his decision to start the out-of-sorts striker in what was a vital game at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Harris said after the defeat, in response to being asked why he played two up front: “Tom Elliott has got the best win-percentage ratio in a Millwall shirt. We score more goals, concede less and win more games when he is in the team."

His views sparked outrage from the club’s supporters on social media, and with that said, here’s how the Millwall fans reacted to Harris’ latest comments on Elliott.
