Sunderland are enduring a season to forget so far, and currently languish in 23rd spot in the Championship table.

Manager Simon Grayson left Preston North End to take the job at the Stadium of Light, and it's fair to say he probably wishes he was still at Deepdale.

Grayson has a thankless task at the Mackems, and thus far this season, the side have registered just one win in the league all season.

How long has Simon Grayson got left at the helm at Sunderland?

The writers here at FLW issue their verdicts.....

Chris Gallagher

He's not got long left.

Sunderland was always going to be a massive challenge for everyone, the mentality of the club and the players is awful and the fans deserve more.

It's going to take time to make all the changes needed, however, they still shouldn't be in a relegation battle this season.

I'd give Grayson till Christmas to improve, but expectations need to be realistic.

George Dagless

He has until Christmas.

It's not been a good start for Sunderland this season but there are some signs of things improving at the club.

A couple of draws recently has shown that the squad can compete at this level and now they need to take confidence from that.

If they don't, though, Grayson will be out.

Alfie Burns

Something needs to change quickly at the Stadium of Light, or Sunderland will be facing back-to-back relegations.

Grayson’s appointment was extremely positive for Sunderland, but he is yet to inspire the Black Cats in the same way he inspired Preston North End in his previous job.

Given time, Grayson should turn things around, but Sunderland are frail and it might not be long before we see another managerial change in the north east.
