Birmingham City's season has taken a serious nose-dive, following the imposition of a nine point deduction following failure to follow FFP rules, that now leaves the Blues down in 18th place just five points above the relegation zone, with only eight matches of their season remaining.

Blues manager Garry Monk will now be re-grouping following the punishment and taking a serious look at his playing squad having gone from the fringes of the play-offs to the brink of the relegation zone.

As he re-groups, Monk is bound to look at how his playing squad has performed, with players like record signing Jota bound to be assessed as to whether they have provided value for money since arriving at St Andrews in 2017.

So ultimately, has Jota been worth the £6m+ that Birmingham forked out for him?

We discuss.........

Jay Taylor

“There have been moments when Jota has been outstanding, but that has not been done on a consistent basis.

“If he was able to influence games on a more than regular basis, I would say yes – but until then – I think not.”

Jacob Potter

"He’s not justified that hefty price tag.

"He’s shown glimpses of his quality at times this season, but he definitely hasn’t been worth the £6m fee that Birmingham paid for him.

"He needs to step up and perform to a high standard."

Gary Hutchinson

“No.

“He is one they should have been able to rely upon this season, but he’s been patchy.

“When he’s good, he’s great.

“When he’s not, he’s barely worth a start.”

Alfie Burns

“He's not been good enough.

“Jota should be Monk’s key creative cog on the right, but he’s struggled to replicate his Brentford form in the Midlands.

“He’s been a disappointment this season and doesn’t look the player Birmingham thought they’d signed.”
