Ipswich Town have had a difficult ending to their 2021/22 campaign.

With no wins in their last five League One outings, the Tractor Boys sit 11th in the table and are going to miss the play-offs by quite some margin.

Under Kieran McKenna, who came in halfway through the season, the club certainly showed signs of improvement and he will be hoping that next year, the Tractor Boys can, at the very least, challenge for a place in the top six.

With that being said, it hasn't all been bad, with some players performing excellently in a blue shirt this campaign.

With that in mind, we asked FLW's Ipswich Town fan pundit Henry for his Tractor Boys' player of the season for 2021/22.

"There's a couple options here." Henry told FLW.

"First, maybe Wes Burns, 36 games, 10 goals, plus assists. We focus a lot of our game down the right. And that's mainly where our goals have come from."

"He's also played in a variety of roles - under Cook he was a right winger, under McKenna he's been right-wing back and he's actually been integral under both managers, so fully deserves being in consideration."

"But actually I'd say player of the year would be Sam Morsy."

"Our captain, came in slightly late, but he's made a massive impact when he when he has been at the club, he's embodied what the club was needed for a long time on the pitch and off the pitch."

"A true leader, very high performance levels and also drags people to his level if he feels like they're not performing to their standard."

"He gets my vote as we haven't had a centre-midfielder like that for a very long time, gets around the pitch, chips in with goals more recently and also breaks up play really well."

"Adds steel into the middle of the park that again like I said we haven't had for a long time, long may he continue to dictate levels on and off the pitch."

"I think with him at the helm, Ipswich only look to be doing well."

The Verdict

You certainly wouldn't argue with Henry's choice here.

Sam Morsy has been fantastic for Ipswich this campaign and going forward they are in a good place with him as captain.

Perhaps Wes Burns can feel slightly hard done by though.

Given he has ten league goals and seven league assists - that is no easy feat, and it's clear he has been crucial for Ipswich Town this season.

Nevertheless, Morsy is a worthy winner too and our fan pundit did at least consider Burns for the nod.
