Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa will be trying to put the finishing touches to his squad, ahead of the start of pre-season, as he looks to assemble a side capable of improving on last season and securing an automatic promotion place.

One player though who does not look like being in Bielsa's plans is midfielder Adam Forshaw, with the club having opened talks with Fulham over a potential summer sale, according to Football Insider.

Forshaw made 31 appearances for Bielsa last season and former Whites full-back Danny Mills has suggested that Leeds could cope if the 27-year-old was sold, especially if they managed to hold onto Kalvin Phillips and Jamie Shackleton, as reported on Football Insider.

So would it be a mistake to let Forshaw leave Leeds United this summer?

We discuss........

Sam Rourke

"It's clear that Bielsa is not the biggest fan of Forshaw.

"Last season, the Leeds boss sparsely used the midfielder, opting for Kalvin Phillips and Mateusz Klich for the majority of the season, so on the face of it, this looks like an inevitable departure this summer.

"But, Forshaw is a useful midfielder to have in your squad, he has plenty of experience in the Championship and is efficient in both the defensive and offensive phases of the pitch.

"It's perhaps not a mistake to let him go, as he's likely to be replaced adequately."

Tommy Joyce

"Bearing in mind that Forshaw is likely to be taking a large chunk of the wage bill, then letting him go is imperative for Leeds to reinvest this summer.

"There's been no hiding the fact that Leeds need to sell to buy, so while Forshaw is a very experienced Championship player with a lot to offer, if they can recuperate something near the £4.5m then they will have done well.

"Forshaw has clearly struggled for game time since playing under Bielsa, and with Jamie Shackleton now coming into the fold, it has put Forshaw one step down in the pecking order.

"There's no point carrying on something which isn't working, so unless Bielsa has different plans for him this season, then it's not a mistake to let him leave."

Ben Lang

"I'm surprised to see this one being discussed, but I think Leeds could get themselves a good deal here.

"Forshaw may have been a regular for them last season, but I think Leeds will be looking for a higher calibre of player next season in order to challenge for promotion again.

"He is a competent Championship player, but I think would be the right move to sell him on if Leeds are confident of getting an upgrade on him this summer. I don't think he quite suited the defensive midfield position last season, as he didn't progress Leeds' play often enough and looked liable to losing the ball.

"However, I am surprised to see him linked with a divisional rival who Leeds are likely to be in close competition with next season."
