‘He’s had enough games now’ – These Stoke City fans are quickly losing patience after another disappointing result

Stoke City looked certain to win their second match of the season on Saturday after going 2-0 up against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough on Saturday but threw it all away.

A Benik Afobe brace had given Gary Rowett’s side a strong lead and gave the Owls plenty of work to do in order to get anything from the match.

It took just two minutes for the Potters to take the lead when Peter Etebo and Mame Biram Diouf combined for Afobre to slot home from close range.

And it was 2-0 20 minutes later when the striker was set through on goal by Tom Ince to double his and his side’s goal tally.

But with the second worse defensive record in the league, keeping a clean sheet was always going to prove tricky and so it proved when Marco Matias’s neat finish dragged the home side back into it two minutes later.

The away side steadied, however, and looked set to secure all three points until Barry Bannan perfectly whipped a free-kick into the back of the Stoke net to make it 2-2.

It is safe to say that the collapse did not go down particularly well with the travelling fans…
