Aston Villa manager Dean Smith is using the January transfer window to stamp his own mark on his Villa squad, but may have to plan for life without striker Jonathan Kodjia, with French side Angers keen on the 30-year-old, as reported in the Express & Star.

Kodjia has scored six goals and provided two assists in 26 Championship appearances this season, but with Tammy Abraham getting the nod in the Villa starting XI currently, Kodjia may be tempted to return to a club he played for back in 2014/15.

So should Villa do all they can to hold onto Kodjia?

We discuss.....

Jay Taylor

“With the form of Tammy Abraham, it looks as if his chances have gone the way of Scott Hogan.

“I would imagine he will want to play regularly, and a move to Angers could give him that.

“He is French and heading towards 30-years-old so a move to his native France could be a move he looks to get pushed through.”

Louie Chandler

"I think they should.

"Kodjia is a much-needed reliable performer within the Villa team and I think he has been unfortunate to lose his place in the side.

"With patience running thin with Bolasie it would be foolish to get rid now."

Gary Hutchinson

“Yes.

“I don’t know why he’s not scoring more goals.

“He’s had a rough ride at the club in recent seasons, but he shouldn’t be cast aside. “He could have a big impact if they get him playing in his correct position.”

Jacob Potter

"They must hold onto him.

"Kodjia is proven to be an excellent option for Dean Smith to have as Aston Villa challenge for promotion this season.

"He is a versatile option to have as he can play out wide on in the central role up-front, and Villa should do everything they can to keep him at the club."
