Stoke City's under-23 side defeated Aston Villa by two goals to nil in the Premier League 2 on Monday night, with plenty of first-team players being given their chance to impress Nathan Jones.

The Potters succumbed to yet another defeat in the Sky Bet Championship at the weekend, with Jones' side losing 2-1 to Bristol City at the Bet365 Stadium.

But the likes of Mark Duffy, Adam Davies, Stephen Ward and Sam Vokes, who didn't feature in the defeat to the Robins on Saturday, all played for the under-23s against Villa on Monday night.

It was Tyrese Campbell who undoubtedly impressed the most, though, with the young forward scoring a first-half brace to secure a win for the Potters.

The 19-year-old came on as a substitute against Lee Johnson's side at the weekend, being brought on in the 68th minute for James McClean.

After his brace on Monday night, plenty of Stoke fans have now urged Nathan Jones to start the forward from the off as they prepare to face Brentford next weekend.
