Nottingham Forest could only manage a point against Ipswich Town at the weekend, a result that has not helped Martin O'Neill's outside chances of a Championship play-off spot with only eight matches of the season remaining.

Veteran striker Daryl Murphy started for Forest up front and was hard-done-by when his first half injury-time goal was disallowed for offside, when replays showed he was clearly not even close to being off.

Murphy has been O'Neill's preferred option to start rather than opt for Iranian striker Karim Ansarifard, who has tended to be used from the bench since his arrival.

But should O'Neill be starting Ansarifad from the off rather than starting with Murphy?

We discuss.......

Gary Hutchinson

“Not a chance.

“That dive the other night was appalling.

“If they don’t have better options than him, they’re in trouble.”

Jacob Potter

"He’s got to be worth a punt.

"Murphy hasn’t impressed me at all this season and he needs a spell out of the team, otherwise his confidence will be shot to pieces.

"Ansarifard is deserving of a chance, especially with Lewis Grabban still out injured."

George Harbey

"He surely deserves a chance.

"After scoring against Hull, his confidence is bound to be sky high, and deserves a chance to impress from the off.

"I’m not sure why he keeps on picking Murphy..."

Jay Taylor

“I think it is a case of rotation with the amount of players Forest have, in that both will start different games until the season is out.

“Murphy offers more of a presence and is more skilled in the Championship in knowing what to do.

“I think O’Neill will pick the best man for the specific opposition they come up against in order to give them the best chance.”
