Leeds United head into the first leg of their play-off semi-final this weekend with manager Marcelo Bielsa unable to call upon the services of striker Patrick Bamford after he picked up a retrospective two-match ban for "successfully deceiving a match official" in the 1-1 draw against Aston Villa.

The ban will be particularly difficult for Leeds fans to take especially as their play-off opponents Derby County seem to have got away with a similar penalty, following claims that Rams winger Tom Lawrence dived to win a penalty during Derby's 3-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.

But, after reviewing the matter, the FA decided to take no action against the player.

The FA decision led former Leeds United defender Danny Mills to say he is "stunned" that Rams forward Lawrence has not been banned for the upcoming Sky Bet Championship play-off semi-final.

So, is Mills right that double standards are at play?

We discuss........

George Brooks

"It’s a difficult one.

"For me, Bamford deserved a two-match ban for his actions against Villa. It was a blatant attempt to get El Ghazi sent off and it worked.

"I’m not sure about the Lawrence one, there was the tiniest bit of contact, but he did go down rather theatrically. You can see why the referee gave it though.

"Maybe a ban for Lawrence would have been fair, so perhaps Mills has a point."

Gary Hutchinson

“Absolutely not.

“Okay, Tom Lawrence dived, during play. That happens throughout the game and it’s not nice to see.

“It’s an attempt to win a free kick, but it’s not an attempt to get someone sent off.

“Bamford’s dive was reprehensible and led to a red card. That’s a different situation altogether.”

Jacob Potter

"He’s got a point.

"It wasn’t as clear as Bamford’s antics, but Lawrence should still have a case to answer for.

"There was never enough contact to send him to the ground in their game against West Brom, and he should be embarrassed by his actions.

"He should have been punished."
