Ipswich Town have adapted well to life in the English third tier, with an unbeaten start to the season leaving them on top of the League One table on goal difference, level on points with Blackpool, Wycombe, Sunderland and Coventry.

Tractor Boys striker James Norwood is one who has certainly taken to life in League One with Ipswich, with a return of four goals from his first five matches, having joined them in the summer.

This form is on the back of a promotion winning campaign with Tranmere Rovers last season, that saw him finish the season as the joint top goal scorer in English football with 32 goals in all competitions, as Tranmere won promotion to League One after beating Newport County in the play-off final.

So how can Norwood's season with Ipswich in League One be best summed up so far?

We discuss.......

George Harbey

“He’s certainly lived up to expectations at Portman Road, and he looks to be an astute signing on a free transfer.

“He scored a hatful of goals for Tranmere last season, and he seems to have carried that momentum across to this season in League One.

“It’s always pleasing for strikers to get off the mark for their new clubs so early on into the season, and he will definitely be pleased with his four goals in five games so far.

“Alongside Kayden Jackson up top, Town have one of the best strike partnerships in League One, and they should have a decent season with them two in attack.”

Chris Gallagher

"He's getting better.

"In truth, the stats are slightly misleading as four goals in five games make it sounds like a fantastic start but two of those strikes came against what was a Bolton youth team.

"Nevertheless, he will take confidence from his start and he has now scored in three successive games, including important efforts against Wimbledon and Peterborough.

"There is a big pressure on him to be the main man at Portman Road and he seems to be relishing that responsibility and is going to be their talisman as they seek an immediate return to the Championship.

"Like Paul Lambert's side in general, he has started to find his feet in the past few weeks and the fans should be excited because Norwood is showing signs that he will be the man to get the 20-25 goals they want from him."

"It couldn't have gone much better could it?

"Four goals from five games at the start of the season is more than impressive for someone playing at this level for the first time in his career, and it just goes to show that Norwood is one of those strikers that has that instinct and ability to take chances, whatever level he is playing at.

"That he has taken to this level so well does feel like it will be a big relief, given the expectation there was on him following his record with Tranmere further down the pyramid, particularly with him moving to one of the favourites for promotion this season in Ipswich.

"With the Tractor Boys as a whole already showing plenty to suggest they will be in contention for a quick return to the Championship in the current campaign, it already feels as though there will be much more to smile about at Portman Road this season, than there was in the last."
