Leeds United continue to be in the thick of the race for an automatic promotion spot in the Championship this season, ahead of the crucial encounter with Sheffield United this weekend.

For Whites manager Marcelo Bielsa this is quite an achievement considering the injuries and suspensions that have happened within his compact squad over the course of the season.

There have been numerous stand-out performances within the Leeds squad this season, but not many will have been better than those of 33-year-old attacking midfielder Pablo Hernandez, who has been a regular for Bielsa.

But would Leeds still be in the hunt for promotion without Pablo Hernandez?

We discuss.....

Louie Chandler

"I think they would be in the play-offs but not the automatic promotion picture.

"The Spaniard has been crucial this season.

"Yes, Bielsa's management has obviously played a huge role in turning them around but Hernandez has won games on his own this season.

"He's even bailed Bielsa out!"

Gary Hutchinson

“Yes, but not automatic.

“Bielsa would have brought someone in, but could he have got a player of his quality?

“I’m not so sure. He’s such a huge influence.”

Jay Taylor

“I think not – his influence has been sensational.

“Ten goals and 11 assists make him an asset to the team, and without his contribution, I think they would be lagging behind the pace of the top two.

“When out injured, Leeds struggled creatively – his inclusion in the side has been supremely conducive to their positive results.”
