Despite back to back draw against sides battling against relegation to League One, Championship league leaders Norwich City still look well set to secure their place in the Premier League for next season, as they sit four points clear of the play-offs with a game in hand at the time of writing.

But while many of the Canaries fans and players will be hoping to enjoy that run to sealing a first return to the top tier since relegation three years ago, there will be some within Daniel Farke’s squad who will be feeling the pressure to ensure that they still have a part to play when the Canaries return to the promised land for the first time in three years.

One man who finds himself in such a position is Todd Cantwell, the 21-year-old midfielder having only thrust himself into the thoughts of Farke in recent months with some big contributions to The Canaries promotion push.

But while Norwich will be immensely grateful to Cantwell for what he has done in all but helping them return to the top tier, the midfielder’s next few performances will surely be crucial to ensuring that he gets the chance contribute in a similar style next campaign.

Such is the embarrassment of riches that come with promotion to the Premier League, Norwich will surely be determined to do all they can to keep themselves there for longer than the single season they spent in the division the last time they were there, even if it means making the tough calls on some of those who have helped them in getting there.

Given that his chance in the side came late this season, Cantwell must now make sure that he finishes the season strongly to keep his place in the side to ensure that he keeps his place in the side between now and the of the season.

A string of strong performances from Cantwell to help get Norwich over the line would make sure that he is fresh in Daniel Farke’s mind when it come to drawing up the team sheet when the first day of the season in August.

It’s the dream of just about everybody to play in the Premier League, Cantwell must now make sure he gets the opportunity to make that dream a reality.
