Everton are reportedly leading Leeds United in the race to sign Hearts starlet Harry Cochrane, according to TeamTalk.

The 16-year-old has been excellent for the SPFL side, and it seems his impressive displays have caught the attention of teams south of the border.

Should Leeds United push harder to seal a deal for the talented player?

We discuss....

Sam Preston

He's a special talent.

He fits into Leeds' transfer policy of signing young players and watching their value grow.

He has played first team football in Scotland and could come in and give the first team a boost but I wouldn't expect him to hit the ground running in the Championship.

He's definitely worth fighting for - at the right price.

Luke Randall

Definitely.

After already bolstering their youth ranks, why not go again.

The midfielder is the most attractive young prospect in Scottish football, and a player that Leeds United could seek huge benefits off in the future should they manage to capture him.

Chris Gallagher

They could try but it will be tough.

The 16-year old will probably take a lot of persuading to join Everton as he is playing regularly for Hearts and wouldn't in the Premier League.

Similarly, he wouldn't start for Leeds now so it would be a hard sell. However, if there's some deal that can be done then Leeds should try as he's a hugely talented prospect.

George Dagless

Leeds should do all they can to trump Everton.

From what I've seen of Cochrane at Hearts he looks a bright player with plenty of time to grow.

He's good enough to be in and around a first team, though, and so I think Leeds might be able to offer that more - though obviously not all the time.

He's a player that should excite.
