Many Birmingham City supporters have been in agreement that Pep Clotet has deserved his chance to take over at St Andrews on a permanent basis, following the Blues' announcement that he has been appointed their new permanent head coach.

Clotet, who had been working with Garry Monk as his assistant, took over as the club's caretaker head coach in the summer following Monk's departure from St Andrews - and he has guided the Blues to a solid start to the campaign having won seven of their opening 19 Championship matches.

The Spaniard has helped to transform the club's playing style during the first few months of the season, trying to get the Blues playing a more possession based style of play and building attacks from the back, rather than going more direct up to the strikers and looking to run the channels.

That has certainly been evident in the Blues' performances at St Andrews so far this season, with Birmingham becoming a really difficult prospect for any sides to play at home, with Clotet's claiming five of their seven wins in the league at home so far.

Clotet will now be looking to improve his side's form away from St Andrews in the next few weeks, and he also be aiming to help the Blues improve on their recent five match winless run in the Championship - and it is vital that the club's board back him in the January transfer window so that he can bring in some extra quality needed to help push his side on, with another striker a priority in the winter window.
