Aston Villa confirmed the signing of Aaron Tshibola from Reading back in 2016, and there were high hopes for the midfielder to play a starring role in the success of Villa going forward.

He had been hugely impressive with Reading and it came as no surprise to see him on the move after such a positive start to his professional career.

Villa supporters were evidently delighted with Tshibola signing for the club.

But his time with the Villans hasn't gone to plan and his time has been one to forget that's for sure.

The DR Congo international has been restricted to just ten appearances across a three-year-spell with the club and supporters are likely to be frustrated by his lack of first-team opportunities.

Tshibola hasn't featured for the Villa first-team in two years now, and has been loaned out to find him regular game time, which evidently isn't going to happen at Villa Park.

The central midfielder has been out on loan at Scottish side, Kilmarnock for the last couple of seasons, and he's proven to be a useful addition to their side as he continues his development.

Tshibola was one of the brightest prospects to come through the Reading academy and Villa supporters had every reason to be excited about his arrival.

But this hasn't turned out as planned and Villa fans will have all but forgotten about him as they mount a strong claim for a late promotion back into the Premier League.

If they can return to the top flight, then Tshibola could be heading for the exit door at Villa Park with a squad overhaul likely to occur in the summer.
