Dean Smith will be hoping his Aston Villa side can make it two wins from two, when they travel to Norwich in the Championship tonight following a win in his opener against Swansea at the weekend.

A player who featured under previous manager Steve Bruce and has continued under Smith is 23-year-old midfielder John McGinn, who has excelled in a Villa shirt since his move from Hibernian in the Summer.

But is McGinn proving to be Villa's best signing in the last few years?

We discuss.....

Jacob Potter

He certainly has the potential to be their best signing in recent years.

McGinn has already made a name for himself with a number of impressive performances this season for Villa and he will be looking to thrive under the guidance of new Villa boss, Dean Smith.

At such a young age as well, he has the potential to be playing at a higher level, if he is to keep up his excellent form on a consistent basis.

George Dagless

I think so.

He was excellent at the weekend and looks a top midfield player already.

He's certainly up there with the best they have signed recently and Villa now need to keep hold of him.

Jay Taylor

He is certainly one of their better signings in recent seasons.

Aston Villa have missed a player that can win the war of attrition in the midfield and give them bite in the middle of the pitch.

John McGinn is that man and gives Villa something different.

That easily makes him one of their better players in recent seasons

Gary Hutchinson

He’s been superb, but the best in years?

Not yet.

Let’s see at the end of the season.

Then we’ll know if he’s been good value or not.
