‘He’s been found out at Stoke’ – Worrying times for Rowett and Stoke City: The verdict

Published

on

For many pundits Stoke City were their favourites for the Championship title, but the opening matches of the season have proved a real baptism of fire for the Potters.

Gary Rowett’s men sit 22nd with only a return of two points from their opening four fixtures.

So are the Potters still favourites for the title?

We discuss…..

Gary Hutchinson

I nearly choked on my tea! No, of course they’re not.

I was dubious at the start of the season because of one thing. Gary Rowett.

He doesn’t convince me. He did nothing at derby that 99% of managers before him hadn’t done.

His football is boring and he’s been found out at Stoke. They are in danger of becoming the next Sunderland.

Jay Williams

No. There were plenty of expectations that Stoke would walk the league and we have seen enough Championship seasons to know that this is not the case.

They are no longer favourites for the title and last night’s embarrassing home defeat to Wigan Athletic proved this.

But with the players the Potters have at their disposal, I expect Gary Rowett to turn things around and have them reaching the play-offs at the very least.

George Dagless

You’d have to say no.

The Potters have lost a lot of ground in the title race already and look set to struggle further before they have settled.

They need to gel quickly before the top six starts getting out of sight.
