Nottingham Forest defender Danny Fox is looking to land himself a new deal, as reported by Paul Taylor in the Nottingham Post.
Fox joined Forest permanently in 2014 after a season-long loan from Southampton, making 79 appearances in a frustrating four seasons at the City Ground. He’s suffered injuries as well as being frozen out by some managers, but he’s still in Nottingham, fighting for his shirt.
Recently he’s been playing at centre back alongside Tobais Figueiredo and is now enjoying his football as much as ever. He told the reporter:
“I am enjoying playing in the centre. I go into every game feeling positive.”
His contract is up in the summer, but he’s hoping to do enough in between now and then to convince Aitor Karanka that he’s worthy of a new deal.
“I would love to be part of the future here. I enjoy coming into work every day.”
Fox progressed through the youth ranks at Everton and counts Coventry City, Celtic and Burnley amongst his former clubs. Nottingham Forest fans took to Twitter to voice their support for the player in the light of his rapid improvement in the middle of defence.
Definitely deserve a new contract. He’s been brilliant since going into the centre back position. He’s not moaned and just gone about his business the right way.

Cohen and Vaughan both played every game, and well when their contracts were due for renewal, once they got them their injuries plagued them yet again. I just hope Fox is different.

Twice the player at CB. Deserves credit for showing character under fire and perseverance

Didn’t realise that. Explains a lot really. I’ll judge him on 3-4 years not 3-4 months.

Didn’t put a foot wrong for me Sunday and this new partnership seem too play with confidence,Fox distribution from centre half is far better than mancienne worral to Imo

I never thought he was that bad at left back but he used to get slated every game, looks an inspired pick at centre back with Tobias.

For years we have wasted him at left back. Every time we have moved him to centre back he has been our best defender. keep.
